It's super simple to just make your own bar, get the nylon rod here for $2.59:
They have larger diameters too, or black material, equally cheap. Cut to preferred length and shape a bullet nose. You can drill out the center and add something more dense to give more weight if you prefer.
On the EQ, you just want to exaggerate some frequencies and suppress others to give that nasally resonator tone. On a GE-7, try starting at 100Hz @ -15, 200Hz @+15, and alternate every other band - then + like that. It will never really sound like a dobro, but... |

I have a Goodrich MatchBro, the original model with tone control in bypass (there is another model without the tone control). I can fool Bluegrass pickers. I also have the Bradshaw resonator unit but the MatchBro is better. I've tried the Graphic EQ but it didn't sound close to my MatchBro. Whatever Dobro simulator, you have to think and play Dobro licks, not just use it as another effect.
There are three models of the MatchBro, the original model, the MatchBro II and the SuperBro. Avoid the MatchBro II as its not adjustable and I've seen (negative) comments about it because its not adjustable.
I've got two short samples of my MatchBro and the Bradshaw model. E-mail me and I can send them as an attachment. They are short MP3 files.
