Topic: Session 500 shut down noise |

I've got a Session 500 Mark IV amp that I use occasionally. It's a great amp but when I turn it off it "whoofs and whistles" as the power leaves. Anybody ever heard anything like this. Thanks

| Most solid state almps make a pop or other noise when shutting down. If it's extremely loud or strange it may be a failure of the caps draining too quickly. Recommend you contact Peavey service center in Mississippi and see what they have to say. |

Thanks for the reply. I've not had one sound this way that I can remember. I can deal with it until it gets worse.

| It could be as simple as aninstrument input jack not grounded out when nothing is plugged into it. |

Again, at the moment it's not a big deal, it just pops and then whistles as the power leaves. I'll clean and check the jacks. Thanks

Clean the power amp input contacts. They often build up a lot of resistance from lack of use. Also any other loop input jack contacts as well
Had this noise several times and is was usually the input jacks not closing to ground when not in use

Thanks, I'll do that. It had been sitting for years because it's heavy, but with the guitar I'm playing now, it gives me the sound that I try to get.
