Can someone tell me where to purchase material to cover a PSG case? I'm looking for material similar to what is shown in the accompanying photo. I've looked online and been to Hobby Lobby but nothing seems to be what I want. Any suggestions appreciated.

It is hard to tell from the picture whether it is felt or tolex. If it is felt Walmart has it.
Mojotone has tolex and that's what most cases are covered with. Check tolex and the different colors. |

Looks like Ozite carpet covering to me--check auto parts places for "Ozite."

Thanks Paul & Dave. Wasn't sure what the trade name of the material was. Has to be Ozite as it is not Tolex.
More of a short fuzzy felt.

| Gary, I just covered split cases with osite from Home Depot. They carry 6'×8' outdoor carpet which seems to be acceptable and easy to work with, cuts with scissors! |

I've used "carpet" and the regular ozite sold for coverings and the carpet doesn't seem to be as strong as the ozite or as good to work with.

Gary, I buy mine from a auto trim store. Its called "trunk liner"
You can buy it by the yard.

Ozite is a different material as Jack says. It's tighter, smoother and does not pill like the other fabric and carpet coverings. For best results for the long term, I would strongly urge you to seek out a source and insist on the Ozite brand, line for covering material. You may pay a little more for it, but it's worth it for the long haul.

| I actually used some black automotive carpet on some bass bins, back in the day, The problem was attaching the trim/handles. I finally got the hair trimmer, and shaved the areas where the trim/handles were to be fastened, worked great! |

Gary, trunk liner is Ozite.Buy nothing but Foss brand, the best there is.
I've built somewhere around 580 steel guitar cases to date not to mention all the rack cases and speaker cab. been doing it a long time, tried em all.
Trust me and buy Foss material, use a good spray contact glue, spray both suffaces, let it get tacky for about 2 or 3 minutes. Press it down with your open hands, you won't have any problems. Good luck Gary.

I have used trunk liner (Ozite) on several projects. It takes rough handling and don't show scratches and bumps. I just built a Speaker Cabinet for a Eminence EPS-15C. Covered it with a grey trunk liner material. It matches my steel case.
A few years ago Lowe's had it on a roll in the carpet section, Not sure they still do. |

TCH Hardware.com Ozite in black or gray, lightweight or heavy weight, 48" or 72" wide, plus any case hardware you might need.Locations in Buffalo, NY and Dallas, Texas. (They may have it listed as carpet covering)
I was in the case making business for 40 years and they were my primary supplier, along with Penn Fabrication. |
