OK Folks, I know this is a long shot but would like to find a Emmons Key Head and maybe the Butterfly/Tulip Tuners. I recently brought a 1972 Emmons Fat Back and I would like to put the original looking keys back on it. The keys have been changed to some Japan kind and I see a lot of screw holes left behind. Kluson Chrome Tulip Tuners. Not made anymore. Thanks, J.R. Rose

J R, I have used Kluson butterfly (tulip) tuners. Can you send me a closeup photo of your keyhead? I don’t remember what keys you have. I believe we could press fit bushings in the keyhead for Klusons.

Jerry I come up with the ideal of using a Heli-Ark Aluminum welder and weld in the holes and then drill back out as needed. Then machine and buff and polish. Thanks for all your help, J.R.

J.R, that scares me. It would be very easy to ruin the head and it is very hard to redrill it without a jig. I think I can fix it for you using small aluminum dowel to wedge fit drive into the extra screw hole at each key then dress them off and polish flush. Then for the keyshaft hole drive a tight fitting aluminum or brass tube with proper bore for Kluson. Dress off both ends and polish head, paint inside black, polish again and install keys. I have been thinking about it several days. I can do it if you could allow me some time to not rush it.
