I'm looking for a bullet style bar with more sustain than a broom handle, but far from that of a traditional bar- not looking for BJS smoothness or weight-I'd be happy with any glass bottle-neck slide if it had the bullet end- that's the ideal. Any tips?

Go to your local Engineering Shop and tell them what you want, its not Rocket Science.

Asa--the Diamond crystal glass bar might fit the bill.
I have one that is a bit less than half the weight of the same size BJS.
Side by side, I find it has lower sustain, thinner, less bright, bold sound. These are all things I was looking for (not in general, but in a specialized bar for stuff like blues slide guitar sounds on steel.)

Thanks John- that sound perfect- much appreciated.

James- I did take special care not to post this on the Rocket Science Forum- always happy to support a business in our tiny steel market.

I'll add that if more severe sustain killing is the objective (closer to broom handle), then ceramic will be another option. Let me know and I'll dig through my link library.

Thanks John- I'm also shooting for a messier blues tone- I'll be on touch.

Paloma Ceramic Bars are great lightweight and reasonably priced.

+1 on Paloma Stone... sometimes hard to find, he goes for periods without making them. If you catch him, buy three or four... they break when you drop 'em! I hope to see him in Dallas in March.

I have accidentally dropped my paloma slides several times without any damage. However that has only been on carpet, but hardwood floor or tile might break them.
