A while back I ordered from Jerry a matching set of long silver knee lever handles to install on a pair of Emmons GS-10s. One of the instruments is set up 3 x 4, and had four different handles -- a combination of black anodized, black painted, both long and short. No two were exactly the same. One of the short handles was in the LKL position, and often times my knee would miss it completely, passing underneath.

On a recent trip to the Twin Cities I had Clem Schmitz install the new handles. They not only look spectacular (especially in comparison to before), but the longer levers make for a much more playable instrument.

Anyone looking for knee lever handles for their old push/pull would be hard pressed to find a better aftermarket product.

Thanks, Jerry!

I had Jerry fabricate some knee levers for my MCI when I was refurbishing it and he does fabulous work - built them exactly as the originals and they look amazing and work a treat.
Kudos to Jerry !

In addition, kudos to my friend Clem Schmitz, who has nurtured both me, and my push/pulls, for well over forty years.

He's always quick to offer tips, and can diagnose most issues on a push/pull by e-mail or over the phone. After all, Clem "wrote the book" on Emmons push/pull guitars:

Aside from Sonny Curtis and Buddy Charleton, Jerry Roller was my first inspiration to light the spark for my interest in the steel guitar and is my "go to" for my Push/Pulls.

Clem retired, closed his store in the Nashville area, and moved back home to Crystal a few years back. He's keeping as busy as he wants to be, selling his wares on eBay, and working on a few steels (if and when he feels like it).
