I've been re-reading "San Antonio Rose", Bob Wills' biography. Looking at photos of the band just before WWII, I see that Leon is playing a double neck steel, with the front neck being an 8 string and quite a drop between the front and back necks. Does anyone know what's the make of the steel?

Sounds kinda like a Rickenbacker D-16? Although I think that's maybe a 50s model. But I don't have the book and haven't seen the photo.

Here's a photo of the guitar. It sold on ebay about 10 years ago, for a pretty low price, due to the recession.

Or maybe this Rocco? No drop between necks tho.

Yep, I'm still around. Smile

I think that's Noel Boggs

Oh good grief, of course you’re right Todd. I forgot about the association between Boggs and the Rocco.
