Hi again. Its good to see you peeps helping other newbies, its a huge help.

Back to bridges and saddles: for my 1st build I'm going to use an off-the-shelf hardtail bridge:

The plans (25-1/2" scale) show the front of the bridge plate at 25-1/2". And I just measured the bridge on my standard guitar (an old Aria) and the front of the bridge plate is near 25-1/2 in, the bone saddle is behind it 3/26" or so.

On a a bridge with adjustable saddles, where should the scale end be located? I'd think that it should be in the mid-range of the saddle travel.

Any help?

Thanks a heap,

stewmac.com has a great calculator for placing bridges correctly. Go to any bridge there and you will find a link to it.

Well, my help would be to suggest NOT using the stock adjustable electric guitar bridge and using some simple straight bar sort of thing. A trip to a local hardware store would provide some options.

There is no need for all the little adjustments on a lap steel, there is no action or intonation adjustment so those springs and screws are not needed, maybe even in the way.

Perhaps this:

I've had good results with these products.
