I thinking that there is a section that has opinions of Sho Bud with Twin sound. I think the Twin is a good amp. I still mess with the eq part of the amp now and then. I may change strings and string type. See if nickel sounds better than stainless. I have nickel on C6 neck but have used stainless for sometime on E9 neck. I personally would like the eighth or E string to sound little less honky or prevalent(little overbearing) ...of course it being mainly on my thumb pick isn't helping any...im going to try to lighten up on thumb
...anybody else ever experience that?

It could be a number of things, the strings, the guitar, the pickup at the 8th string, the bridge or nut.

The amp?

Trying a different string set is a task but worth it if you really want to figure that out.

Maybe these will work for the lower strings.

But with so many variables, it would have to be addressed one by one and you are not alone in that trek.

well, certainly a lot of guys have sounded really good playing sho buds and twins. i find that the right strings can really improve a sho bud's feel, balance and sound. i don't know what you use now, but i think ricky davis' string gauges are a really good place to start. he sure gets a great sound out of this combination.

Amp and speaker might be old and tired?

I've always preferred nickel over stainless.
Some time back I bought a Williams guitar and wasn't too crazy about the sound.
I called Bill and asked him what kind of strings he used.
He said that he used stainless.
I changed them to nickel and got the sound I liked. Very Happy

Thanks for comments. Hopefully, it's not my amp. It's a pretty new limited edition Twin. Not sure I can do much but adjust eq of amp. The strings ....I've wondered about. I have used stainless on E9 for a while, maybe change. Thanks for feedback.

Try an eq pedal in front of the amp like a boss GE7 and see if that helps. If you can eq it out then you will have a shot at getting the tone you want.
