Just got work that Ray Riggs passed today. Ray was an outstanding
Guitar player and was one of the horn players in the
Bakersfield Brass.

Ray has been in bad health for a long time and has been in a nursing
Home in Crystal River FL for several years.

More info later.

Will miss Ray. He was so skilled and such a fine musician.
He could play any song, any style. Country, Blues, and Jazz
that could make your spine tingle.
Ray played with us at the Florida Steel Guitar Club jams.
His personality was kind and thoughtful.

Here are a couple of pictures of Ray. I'm sure there are others around as he had a storied career on both the west coast and Nashville scenes. He has worked with many including Paycheck and Barbara Mandrell. At one time, Ray was the person that hired the music acts for Disneyland in California.

We hosted a Steel Guitar Hall of Fame fundraising show in Lake Panasoffkee Florida in 2004. I hired Ray for the backup band. Herby Wallace was on the show and annouced he was going to play My Window Faces South and commented "and I better get it right with Ray Riggs Here".

The first picture is a promo picture from the Buck Ownen's Bakersfield Brass. Ray is the person in the middle. The second picture was taken at one of our Florida Steel Guitar jams.

It was always an honor to have Ray in the backup band at out FSGC jams.
He was such a master of the instrument and in the above picture by Jack, Ray is playing one of several guitars he designed and built.
He will surely be missed by many of us.
