I had to miss the ceremony yesterday, but pedal steel guitarists John McClung and Steve French were inducted into the Western Swing Society's Hall of Fame!

Congrats to two great musicians, and good friends!

I don't know Steve French, but I do know John McClung. Couldn't happen to a nicer guy! Congrats to both!

Thanks a million, Dave. Please note that I did a poor job of filling in for you with Ron and Shelley's band. Sorry you couldn't make it. It was a special day. And I had a hard time keeping up with those Texas boys, John Jones and JD Barham!

David, I kept looking for you there hoping to see you. You were the one who inspired me to attend the induction festival about 8 years ago, where I hung out with Bobby Black, and first met Ronnie and Shelley Elkan, real sweethearts, those two.

Thanks to Ronnie's kind nominations I'm now in TWO Halls of Fame, the one for the Sacramento chapter, and the other for the Northwest chapter. Whoda thunk.

I'm going to try to attend more frequently, hope to see you soon, David.

By the way, Steve French played great, as good on steel as he is on lead guitar. And a good singer to boot! Tom Phelps was great, too.
