| Anyone do lessons in the katy area? New to the steel, and considering taking a few lessons. I work a lot of hours and don’t have much time to travel for some. |

OK, I'll bite.
What the heck is a/the "katy area"? Is it slang for something, or a neighborhood in some city, or.....???

| Katy, Texas is a town in Texas- actually a suburb/neighbor of Houston, TEXAS. I'd say the 'Katy area" would be the area around Katy, TEXAS which could encompass west Houston, Sugarland, and other towns in the Houston, Texas area |

The town of Katy was named for the K[ansas] & T[exas] Railroad. They had a depot in what is now Katy, Texas. Probably more than anyone really wanted to know.

Hey I love that info Allen; only real residence knows...ha...like in Austin; the highway "Mopac" was named after the Missouri-Pacific Railroad; as it was built right next to the track..ha.

Hey Ricky, I've driven up and down the Mopac a few times. Had no idea that's what is stood for. Thought it was named after an Indian tribe or something. Makes sense now.

Yeah Allen; I was there when it was built and so I asked my Dad what in the world is the name "MOPAC"...ha....and then it made sense to a 8 year old boy(50 years ago)...ha.

My GPS always pronounces it "Moppick".
