This is definitely Mike Johnson in this video of Borrowed Angel. Also a good story to go along with it.

Ok, I’m mostly convinced. I’m a big Mike Johnson fan. It’s the way that David presented it that threw me. Does anyone know where the version David put up comes from? It’s not the same as the family reunion version. Is it a Mo Pitney record?

I’ve got it now. If you watch the video long enough at the end, it says it’s from Mike’s cd Almost Midnight. I still wonder if that’s Mo singing? Don’t sound like him to me.

It is Mike Johnson and it is his brother Mark Johnson playing bass and singing.

If you don't have this CD, shame on you

If that's David Hartley he started shelling out some big bucks for backup players. With that said I think David is in the world's top 10 steelers. Sounds like Mike Johnson & Mo Pitney to me.

As I said earlier, it is Mark Johnson singing. I have been listening to this album for years.

From Mike's web site:

"ALMOST MIDNIGHT
15.00
This CD is packed with a variety of music styles and lots of Steel Guitar! Mike puts his stamp on the old songs with some new twists, but still pays tribute to the original records. A true highlight is Gene Watson, at his best, singing “Take Me As I Am”. Mike also recorded one of his own original tunes. This CD contains shuffles, ballads, a swing tune, a barn burner, vocals from Mike’s wife, Joanie and a tribute to MEL STREET from Mike’s brother, Mark. There is something for everyone who loves Steel Guitar and Country Music.

TRACKS: 1. Home in San Antone 2. Sweet Dreams (vocals Joanie Keller) 3. Bright Lights and Country Music 4. Pan Handle Rag 5. Take Me As I Am (vocals Gene Watson) 6. Almost Midnight 7. I Can’t Help It 8. Buds Bounce 9. Mel Street’s introduction of “The Borrowed Angel Band” from the stage of the Grand Ole Opry 1976 10. Borrowed Angel (vocals Mark Johnson) 11. Folsom Prison Blues"

Now to say that, on the 2nd link of CFR, it is Mo Pitney singing live
