Lovely. That racing stripe inlay along the top of the guitar is pretty cool, and something I've not seen before

Well that is a 1977 Marlen; so it's a "Pull-Release" system; can we see some underneath pics of the mechanics please?
And I love that it has original Bill Lawrence 705 best sounding humbucker EVER on it. So it looks very familiar to one I restored many years ago; do you have history of it?

No Ricky, it is an all pull changers, I viewed it up close, I played on it, Leonard Stadler built all pull systems on some models.

From what I'm told was that '77 was the first year Mr. Stadler started building the all-pull Marlen. Vann Cranford has the first all pull ever built. It was called the "Marlen II" and he still owns that guitar to this day. I've got a history piece I wrote about the Marlen steel guitar if anyone wants to read about it.

This guitar was purchased new from Willy Coleman at Coleman Music in North Central Ohio. It was one of the last If not the last Marlen guitars Mr Coleman sold. It was purchased new By Dick Cochran, A well known and excellent steel guitarist from Conesville Ohio. The late Mr Cochran was the only owner of this guitar. We are selling the guitar for his widow. The owners manual calls it the "NEW" Marlen Classic. Indeed it is an "all pull" system. Thanks for the interest.

It has the Kline changer that Leonard used when he went to all pull. These are the best steels I ever saw for tuning stability and killer tone. A little on the heavy side. Ideal if you're playing a sit down gig or have your own roadie.

Wow; that indeed is the first year then of the All-Pull as Clyde says it's the Kline Changer. Clyde for some reason I'm remembering/thinking Leonard told me they actually had the very first patent on a Changer; meaning that one they put in the Marlen?? Am I remembering that right?
Anyway....so awesome....and yes I played one of those first year All-Pull Marlen.....and just absolutely Perfection(wasn't has heavy as you remember cause it was a single-10..ah...ha.)

Ricky, you could be right. Things get fuzzy after all these years. He could have built a few all pulls before he started using Klines. If Leonard came up with a new idea, it went right on the next guitar until he came up with his next new idea. They never got completely standardized till he started farming out all the parts and having Bobby Adkins assemble them in the back of the store.

Most definitely the kline designed changer. I was working at Kline guitars when Joe designed and built those changers for Leonard Stadler.

Andy, we could change it over for sure but unfortunately I have a few guitars on the bench right now so I wouldn't be able do it right away. I also would add that there would be a fee to make the changes. Rick
