Just wanted to say that I saw a great show by Melbourne's steel-playing genius and fellow forumite Shane Reilly on Friday night, doing a Willie Nelson tribute show at the Melbourne Arts Centre with Melbourne legend Linda Bull (of Vika and Linda fame, for all you Aussies).

Shane alternated between his recently acquired Emmons push-pull and a nylon string guitar (with a strat in between) playing songs off the Stardust album as well as some Willie classics, and absolutely nailed it - Willie, Jimmy Day, John Hughey, Buddy, he had it covered!

It was so good to hear steel in such a beautiful venue, and with such a tight band.

Now they just need to take this show around the nation (and beyond?)!

Missed that one Greg, regrettably. Will keep my eye out for a repeat performance.

Always interesting to hear what Shane is up it. Have seen him a few times in different projects. Unfortunately I didn't see this show.

I've seen Shane quite a few times live, occasionally on six string, but I was blown away by his soulful rendition of Willie's picking style - he just nailed that is-he-going-to-miss-the-note?, Django-esque playing style.

I hope they consider doing further shows!

Hi Greg ! Thanks for the shout out and I'm real glad you liked the show , we sure had fun playing for ya!
The Melbourne Arts Centre is a world class venue and home to some of the finest orchestras in the world so I'm real proud to see a pedal steel up front and loud in the mix there.
We'll definately be doing more shows so keep your eyes peeled .

Willie Nelson is one of the greatest of all time in any genre you can name , in fact he IS a genre. It's an honour to play his music and with such wonderful musicians.

Just a heads up we have two more shows with my own original band Lost Ragas . Sundays in Sept at The Union in Brunswick 5-7. It's been going off the previous two weeks. We also have a show this Friday 21st with Russell Morris at Memo St Kilda if you're over that side.

Cheers and see ya at a show soon. Come and say Hi!

Thanks Shane - I'll make a concerted effort to get to the Union.
