I've seen these around. I'm looking for a PSG bar that sounds like a dobro when you use is. Old school stuff.
Thx, Pat

I think you are referencing a plastic bar like what comes with the Goodrich MatchBro unit.
You can also cut off the end of a broom stick. Very Happy

3/4" or 7/8" Delrin rod works well, $2.59 for 3/4" x 12" piece from Grainger. You of course need to shape the bullet end yourself. What you end up with is essentially the same as a match-bro bar

Hi guys,
I'm not sure exactly what I'm looking for, but I remember my friend Buddy Charleton had something he used to use, and I saw Junior Knight today on Penny Gilley show on RFD tv, and he had something he was using.
I'll try both of these suggestions. Any other suggestions are appreciated as well.
Thx, Pat

Besides the bar, you should look into a resonator stomp box, maybe the one from Tom Bradshaw. Very Happy

I have one of those bars. But you need more than that to get that sound. The bar would be a disappointment alone.
Fish n' chips is a cheap pedal that will along with this bar give you a close sound, but to me it still aint that good.

Where in Va are you?

Hi Paul,
Southeast of Richmond. I can't deal with effects pedals, as it's nothing I would use a lot. Just remember seein' them. I know there was something that did work.
Thx, Pat

My son lives in Dinwiddie and works in Richmond. I would give you the bar but I don't think you will like it. It is plastic and rough.

I use a Danelectro Fish and Chips. It works fairly well. I didn't like using any kind of plastic bar. People like them to kill the sustain of a steel bar. But, every dobro I have ever had did sustain a bit.

The Fish and Chips is around thirty bucks.

I also use a Danolectro Finch & Chimps pedal to get Dobro sounds ,I just use a regular bar and not a lighter one works fine.

I've tried several different brands of EQ pedals and none come close to my Goodrich MatchBro.

I also have one of the Bradshaw units as my MatchBro died and I didn't think I could fix it. I bought one of the Bradshaw units since I though the MatchBro was toast. Luckily I was able to repair it. The Bradshaw unit is very good and a close second to the MatchBro. The MatchBro sounds the best with the "plastic" (or whatever it is) bar that is supplied with them. The Bradshaw works just as well using a regular steel bar.

As the MatchBro is old (early/mid 90's) if mine dies again I'm not going to fix it, just start using the Bradshaw unit.

The only thing I would change on the Bradshaw is the location of the input jack and output jack. I would place them on the top/bottom like the MatchBro. Much better alignment if its clipped to a Pedal Steel leg. I'm going to replace the pushbutton "footswitch" with a toggle switch, too since it clips on to the steel leg.

Telonics includes one a nice one with their amp sale.
Sure they sell them individually as well.
