I found a Nashville 400 at Guitar Center. '83 model with chrome corners and a BW 1502. Played a gig with it last night. Now...that's the sound. I had turned away from Peavey amps after I was left uninspired by the Nash 112, but I certainly have a new fav amp in the 400.
I read that the reverb was undesirable in these amps, but it sounds great and splashy to me. Maybe this one has had the reverb mod done? Not that I'd wanna change anything. How could one tell?

I have an 84. The best steel guitar amp Peavey ever made. The 1502 is the bomb. Never could warm up to the later 400 or the 1501 speakers. I still use mine, even though the reverb died.

There’s a reason why you see multiple NV400’s at steel shows.
I used one of mine with chrome corners and a 1502 at a gig last night. Thing’s a tank. Always sounds good. Put wheels on it some time ago. I do use a mono Wet Reverb pedal in the signal chain because once you use one of those you can never go back. |

I have a Nashville 400 with the ken fox mod..he is a forum member..he could tell you the easiest way to spot a mod..probably involve taking out 4 screws and removing the chasis and spotting a ic chip or cap...good time to clean pots etc also.

| It's possible that Peavey may have used different reverb tanks over the years. The one in my unit sounds superb also but I believe the Le May mod I have in mine has some adjustments that effect the reverb. More importantly I have a JBL D140R replacing the original 1501 that makes a huge difference in the resulting quality and musicality of the reverb. |

I have a 400, that I bought from Guitar Center. It came with the mods in it. They had it for sale for 200.00.
They had it listed as a MK DLX. But the photo showed a Nashville 400. They sold the amp for the price they advertised. Got a GREAT Deal on it. And it is in GREAT SHAPE too

| I saw Buck Reid at the last Texas Steel show and he was using a stock NV112 with no effects. I was blown away at his sound (and talent)! He said he didn't need any more than the 112. |

I like the sound of the ones with the chrome corners and the 1502 in it. I had one modded with the tantalum caps and some other mods (it was a very early mod) and honestly we sat that amp next to a healthy Vibrosonic with an original D130 and I swear that Nashville 400 sounded better. When you get a good one...hold on to it. They are great amps.
