Topic: 8 String Lap Steel, Extruded Aluminum Tube |

Here are some photos of what I call 'Tubular-8'. I used extruded aluminum tube, 1" x 6" x 36", for the body. Scale is 22.5". I wound the pickup myself, experimenting with a plastic 8 string bobbin (I usually make my own flat work from Padauk wood). The fret board is two pieces of wood, maple wood bottom, dark stained padauk wood for the top, so when I cut grooves or dots, they are very visible.

| Wayne who cares what the metal cost? This guy crafted a very nice instrument believe me it takes time an talent to create something this cool. My hats 🎩 off to him!!! You know the amount of work you spend on a one off like this. |

I'll get a sound clip made and put it on Soundcloud, and put a link to it here. I didn't sell it, and, actually glad I didn't. This one has a brighter than usual tone, I made the pickup in a very different manner than I normally do. The more I play it the more I like it. Especially using the higher frets with the lower strings, has a really nice crisp tone.

Impressive!
If you don't mind me asking.. what spacing did you use for the tuners? It looks like almost a straight line from the nut to the post.

Tuners are spaced 1.5" apart. Yes, strings are straight, end to end, from behind the bridge, to the nut to the tuners.
