Like so many steel players, I always loved Lloyd Green’s solo on Alan Jackson’s “Remember When,†so as I put an arrangement together, I thought of the pedal steel. An instrumental lacks the “words,†so I decided to abridge the tune but keep the song’s three keys. To add some different sounds, I got out my old Dobro, actually my first slide guitar from the 1970s. My friend, recording engineer John Hensch, sent me a great MXL microphone, and I blended the mic’s signal with the Dobro's old pickup (very high end) and panned them a bit, adding a touch of reverb to the mix. I like the 2018 Band in a Box’s instrument samples and used them to create the backing track.
Hope you enjoy the arrangement.

Chuck, a gorgeous piece to these tired old ears. Kinda like a cool breeze on a hot summer day. I love it. _________________ Mullen Lacquer SD 10, 3 & 5; Mullen Mica S 10 1/2 pad, 3 & 5; BJS Bars; LTD400, Nashville 112, DD-3, RV-3, Hilton VP . -- Gold Tone PBS sq neck; Wechter Scheerhorn sq neck. -- "Experience is the thing you have left when everything else is gone." -anon.- |

Hi guys. As always, thanks for listening. Jim, the acoustic guitars are BIAB samples, and of course, some sound more natural than others. Overall, it is a great program, and I'm having fun learning it.
