On the road traveling thru southwest Colorado into Utah, came across a great station, no talk, no commercials, just country from the 50's and 60's sure was nice cruisn in the car listening to that.

Might be nice to tell us what station, or even just the location on the dial. Many stations have streaming broadcasts on their web site, so even those of us out of actual radio range might be able to check it out on line.

Sorry Don, I don't have that info. There was no talk so no call letters.

Interesting. I thought the feds require some sort of station ID to be broadcast at intervals. But maybe you had some sort of outlaw station or something new which was not set up for commercials yet.

Whatever it was, we could all use a few more like that!

Your post reminded me of the pretty song written by Emmylou Harris and Will Jennings called "KSOS".

You might try this one 1250 AM or on line ...www.willcoxradio.com.. its a trip back in time, if you listen long enough you'll hear some songs that haven't had air time in many many years its a great station. Willcox Az, home of Rex Allen and Tanya Tucker

Seems to me some Red Dirt artist had a song maybe 10-15 years ago about driving across Texas and listening to various radio stations.....this thread now has me wracking my brain for who it was! Older guy...had several good songs....I guess my brain is just too full of useless knowledge to retain the important stuff like THIS! Laughing

Aliens love the Southwest. And as we all know, country music is their first choice - once they heard about this “Universal” Pedal Steel Guitar tuning...

Reminds me of a time I was driving on a New Mexico highway, listening to some bubble gum country station. I went off on a dirt road looking for a campground, and suddenly the station started playing Native American chant music, non stop. Found the campground, and sure enough, hawks were talking to coyotes.
