| I bought a National New Yorker, 1951, and it's great. I got my Amphenol connector from Elderly. But, the fretboard, which seems to be some kind of plastic or acrylic, is warped and interferes with the string action. Any suggestions on how to fix this problem? Thanks in advance! |

| Got any pics to look at? My 41 NY has a metal fretboard so I am not familiar with the acrylic ones. It must really be warped to interfere with string action. |

If the fretboard can be removed from the instrument, it may be possible to straighten with a couple flat chunks of 3/4" plywood cut slightly larger than the fretboard itself, a few stout c-clamps, and a heat gun.
That method worked for me on a warped plastic fretboard from a first generation Gibson Ultratone. |

Been there !!! When my New Yorker was a year old, ( 1951) I let it lay in the car on the back seat, in the case...bad idea !!. Sun beat on it !! Luckily, a new fret board was available back then !! 
Only issue will be the back paint, and the numerals near the fret markers, but they can be touched up if necessary, if heat causes some problems.. |
