Bought this a few months ago. I really like this guitar and just wondered what brand it might be. I can take more pictures if that would help anyone to identify the brand.

Also on this guitar the scale is 24 1/4 just like most pedal steels which I don't see too often in lap steels. No volume or tone knob but its a great guitar. If anyone has any idea what it might be Id really like to know. |

I was surprised to see your lap steel, my dad had a nearly identical one in his music room in Florida, I played it many times. I remember him mentioning that he built it, so I have a feeling it was possibly an early kit guitar? _________________ Charles 'Skip' Stange |

I'll post an example of its sound. I've done quite a bit of searching to find out what it is but nothing I've seen looks like it. The two things that stand out is the slotted headstock (there aren't too many older lap steels with this) and the scale as I mentioned is 24 1/4. Both great features but somewhat unusual. I have no idea what the pickup is, I had someone tell me it seemed similar to a Gibson P13 pickup but I'm not sure. Also if I hold the lap steel and slowly turn it in my hands, I hear what sounds like sand moving around in it (for extra weight to improve tone I guess) |

I made this video not too long after I got the guitar. The amp I used was a Washburn Bad Dog model which is my favorite for lap steel and I use it a lot for pedal steel too. tuning was CEGACE https://youtu.be/4b42pDGl2GM |

Almost Deco; really cool. Depending on the pickup, sans controls it could be a real screamer.
Does it have a wood body? Is the coverplate plastic? Metal? What material is the bridge made from? And what's that little finger/thing on the treble end of the tailpiece?
If it's homemade, looks like a nice build. |

It is wood but its painted black and I'm not sure if that's original or not. The coverplate is metal. Bridge is wooden with a thin piece of metal on top (folded over it). That tailpiece part I'm not sure about. It has no purpose though. I'll take some better pictures this afternoon. |

Cool guitar. Is the pickup adjustable? From the video it looks like it is a long way from the strings. |

Its not because of two folded pieces of metal on the coverplate that cover each end. Its not super low though. On this guitar the pickup also seems to be further from the bridge than on most instruments. |

Daniel, is that a bent over nail holding the jack plate? _________________ Charles 'Skip' Stange |

I'm really not sure. I don't think its a nail though. Ill take a closer look and see what I can determine. |
