Around 1991 I bought this guitar. It's a Fender Dual Professional. I didn't know much about steel guitars back then. I didn't know that it had been refinished. I thought that it had the original finish on it. Soon after I had acquired a Stringmaster T8. I didn't play the Dual Pro anymore. Then some years later sold the Dual Pro to a friend. He brought it back to me and said that one of the pickups sounded weak. I took the pup out and sent to Jason Lollar. He rebuilt it. I but the guitar back together and gave it back to my bud. He soon returned and said that now the other pup sounds weak compared to the newly rebuilt one. Took it all apart again. This time I sent both pups to Lollar and had them matched. Got them back, assembled the guitar and gave it back to my friend.......who never played it!!!!!!! That was 20years ago. I also lost touch with the person who bought it. Oh I forgot something. I repaired those pickups at my expense. I refused to take money from my friend, Just the way I am. That also meant that I made almost nothing on the sale of the guitar. Back then you could buy a good console for $300, sometimes less. Anyway......I've often wondered if I could ever get that guitar back now that I really like this model guitar. I found my friends phone #, called him and he agreed to sell it to me. Here it is!! Just as I remembered it. Plus I don't have to worry about the trap pups coming apart as they've been rebuilt. One of the reasons I wanted this guitar.

Correct, not original. It was on the guitar when I first bought it in 1991. It was either a stutter button or a boowah button. I don’t remember it working. But my friend who I had sold it to said it was a stutter button and that I had disconnected it when I had the pickups rebuilt.

Congrats on the recovery of your dual pro. I have one [avatar] dated 8-1-52. The pickups are in fine shape and it sounds terrific. Enjoy playing it a lot, just not very proficient.

Hey Jerry, It would seem our guitars were signed off at the Fender Factory very close to each other. Kinda cool.

Yup-- Def. refinished, but a beautiful job! Funny--I've seen dozens of Dual Pros that have been refinished, but hardly any Stringmasters. Wonder why?

You're right, there are a lot of Dual Pros out there that have been stripped to bare wood and refinished like this one I have. Don't know why that is so common. It's also true that you don't see this done very often to Stringmasters. Glad of that.

I had one, until last Winter. Couldn't get it to sound like it should. It had been re-finished...a few times !
But even after a complete rebuild, re-chromed parts, electronics etc, I hated it !! I was maybe spoiled by the D8 String Master I had, which I should have not sold !! Anyway, I gave it to Bobby Ingano & told him to give it away in Hawaii !

The one pictured ( Kevin's) is beautiful ! Very Happy
