Hi,
Does anyone out there know where Jack Smith's purple Sho-Bud is currently located? I think this guitar was a SB Professional.
He used this with the Happy Goodmans back in the early 70s. Does anyone have any knowledge about this guitar (other than where it's located)?

Yes, that's what I have on record. I saved the post where Jack described the whole situation pertaining to this guitar. As the story goes, he returned the guitar back to Shot Jackson and later kind of regretted doing so.
I contacted the Jackson family a couple years ago and they have no idea as to where this guitar is today. I figure with its history, someone might know of its whereabouts. It's possible that someone here on the Forum has it, but is keeping it under wraps.
Perhaps it will resurface someday when the owner needs money more than the guitar. It may take months or even years to find it. That's OK. I can be patient.

Hi Again,
I'm still interested in finding Jack Smith's purple SB guitar.
Can anyone fill me in on the history of this? I'm guessing it was a D-10 Professional. Is there anyone out there who might have close-up pictures of this instrument? Please post.

Does anyone know WHERE this guitar is at the present time? Granted, the current owner may not want to sell it, and I understand that...I wouldn't either. I'd like to know who has it. If you own this guitar, please email or PM me.

UPDATE: I spoke to Dave C last night. Jack's guitar was a Sho-Bud Professional that had the rack-and barrel tuning mechanism. It is a two-tone D-10 with purple front apron and natural finish on top.
Dave spoke to Jack years ago when they were recording a project at the Goodman Studio. Jack thought the guitar had found its way to England somewhere. It could still be there...maybe not.
For all steel players in England (or Europe for that matter), please be on the lookout.
I will try to post some pictures of the guitar here in a few days. These pictures date back to 1974 and are not the best quality, but you can get an idea of what the guitar looks like.
