No Bobby it doesn’t. Serial number on this one is 2286, no D. It’s stamped on endplate.
Also, guitar body had just too many holes from after markets stuff for it to look good so what’s a little flocking gonna hurt, lol? Yes, they could have been repaired with out reflocking but if you going that far, may as well go all the way. _________________ Henry Matthews

the only other ‘65 bolt on red belly I could find on the whole internet, was one Chris Lucker had for sale back in 2011... and his was reflocked with new red flocking as well... I have seen few ‘66 brown belly bolt ons, and few red belly wraparounds, but I have never seen or even heard of ‘65 red belly bolt on until now... one Henry is working on, and one Lucker had, are the only two ‘65 red belly bolt on’s I know of... _________________ https://steelguitarsonline.com/ |

Here are a couple photos of a '67 brown belly that I restored and then sold to a customer in Texas. It was originally owned by Herby Wallace.
Here are photos of my own personal '65 red belly bolt-on that I play out regularly. It sounds awesome!
Good luck with your project, guys! _________________ Best regards,

FWIW, Bryan Adams played a red belly. I think Charles Powell may have bought it after Bryan's death. I think be sold it a year or two ago. |

‘67 bolt on is done and ready, ‘65 red belly bolt on is on its way to become an awesome instrument, but as soon as that’s done Henry has another project coming his way, this D10 ZUM that I received another day... I and Henry will do all we can to bring this instrument back , and to shine again as it used to 😊 _________________ https://steelguitarsonline.com/ |

Does red flocking sound better?? I like the red astatically better than black. They bored at the factory?? _________________ Old Emmons D-10's & Wrap Resound 65, Standel amps!

Just to clarify - The pics I posted are not pics of the guitar referred to in the query about the whereabouts of Mr. Luker's guitar. These pics of are of a bolt-on red belly I acquired from Ernie Renn some years ago, which had previously belonged to Larry Sasser. Restored by Mike Cass years ago, and regularly used, it's history before that is unknown to me.

I am interested in why some were flocked different colors, really. Both of my 1966's bolt on aluminum necks are black flocking, anyone know the reasoning, or was Ron just being creative? _________________ Old Emmons D-10's & Wrap Resound 65, Standel amps!

I don’t really know why myself but I’ll bet you hit nail on head. He was probably just being creative. Lucker or Cass may know the real reason but bet you are right. _________________ Henry Matthews

Thanks for responding Henry! As I recall hope your health is doing fine. I've been curious about the flocking colors for a while. Hope to hear more about it. And.. Bolt on are tone machines _________________ Old Emmons D-10's & Wrap Resound 65, Standel amps!

Here’s couple pics of flocking and some parts. Of course that’s not all parts, just showing how good Chemtool cleans parts. Can’t believe for years I cleaned with tooth brush and soap. Chemtool takes all the crude off. I did polish them some more after this pic. Changers weren’t worn at all. The little pegs in the aprons of guitar are rolled up pieces of paper to keep glue out of crossbar holes. Will be putting back together this week end. Also getting a news set of chrome lines fret boards. Going to be a beautiful guitar.

Yes, awesome guitar. Waiting on couple parts to get other pedals going. This guitar just feels good when you sit down at it. It’s difinitly got that sparkle in the tone that I like, told Damir it’s a gritty sound or a grrrrrrrr, lol. Can’t really describe it but I like it. _________________ Henry Matthews

Great guitar!!! Billy and Lynn have lots of expert knowledge between them, and are exceptionally nice folks.
