I am hoping that Joe will one day be recognized for his wonderful work and taking the pedal steel to places where man had dared not venture before. It is really Joe that I owe my long time interest in the pedal steel when I purchased his "Pickin' My Pleasures" back around 1980. His choice of unique material, playing style and personal interpretations of songs that most would never think of hearing a pedal steel play are in a league of their own. I keep all of Joe's cd's handy for playing and never tire of hearing them. I hope others might join me in bringing this man to the level of recognition that he so richly deserves.

Also agreed, but with the passing of the ISGC, is the HOF even relevant anymore? Confused

Joe was my first teacher 40 years ago. I only wish I was capable of learning the things he taught me. Definitely HOF material.

You never know what you're gonna find when you open the Forum! Dennis, thanks for the nice sentiments, it's really heartwarming. Haven't heard from you in awhile, glad you're still around. Everyone else, thanks a bunch also.

However, the hall of fame-ers are all many levels better than I am. I figured out long ago that I wasn't good enough to do this for a living, and I've been fortunate enough to be able to play for fun and to make albums for my own amusement (and hopefully yours). I feel a little silly even answering this seriously. The guys in the HOF are brilliant musicians, which I am not.

That being said, I think I make some interesting albums...

Thanks,
Joe

I would say that is a fair statement. Wink

Joe is a treasure. His new album is extremely entertaining! Thank you Joe for all you do for steel guitar and real music in general!
