Jack, I didn’t mount it right on plate, it still has little spacers between pickup and plate. You need those so pickup can reach the needed height under strings. The reason I made the hole in plate is that the pickup we had to put on had bigger wires under the bottom so instead of putting it in a bind, I just made a hole in plate. Putting wires tight against plate could have caused problems later. Other than the hole in plate, it’s mounted normal just like any Emmons.
