Herb you are a gentleman and a scholar. I fully intended to come by your table and look at this but when you were there I forgot and when I remembered you weren't there. Thanks, that is a great treat.

What a very kind gesture from Mr Steiner! I have found his chord booklet to be so helpful over the past few years. This is so generous to make it available to everybody.

Herb,

What a kind gesture to release this free of charge. I will attempt to show my gratitude by actually using it.

Thanks Herb, this is a very informative essay! For some reason, I have always been confused as to how many knee levers a D10 would need to have these changes. It seems that most D10's come with 8/5 these days, but from what I understand, only 2 of the knee levers on a basic D10 with 5 knee levers will work on both necks. If this is the case you would need to have 2 more knee levers for a total of 7 knee levers to have all of what is considered to be a basic E9 set up with 5 knee levers and also have all of these C6 changes. Is this a correct assumption.

Bob Watson that is correct. Generally the two levers on the right knee can work on both necks, but because the left foot has to be repositioned towards the middle of the guitar when playing the bottom neck then the left knee E9 levers are not able to be reached when on C6. Two centre levers can be added there for the left knee and even another vertical lever all dedicated to the C6.

That gives you now 7 levers or maybe 8 with the vertical central lever. The left knee for the C6 is usually allocated to raising/lowering the 4th string a half tone. The right knee does the same for the third string. This may vary for certain players. Lots of fun to be had.

Thanks Chris. I've kinda known this for quite sometime but its nice to have it spelled out for me. I had the 1st string on the C6 neck of an ol' Sho Bud of mine tuned to D for years and I never liked it. I went to playing a P/P for the last 15 years and I have it set up with a G on top. I've been wanting to get a D10 with 8/7 or 8/8 so I can have the D on top and still get the same chord voicing of having the G on top using the C to C# lever and the 5th pedal 4 frets up. That seems like the best of both worlds. I will have to say that there is plenty to learn on the C neck with the old "G on top 2 knee lever set up", but I also want to have a more modern D10 in my arsenal. Thanks again for answering my question.
