My response was in reference to Marks pm message to me. I don't want to get in middle of anything on the forum and wish Mark the best of luck with his Basketweave.
Thanks, Charlie |

Two of the best sounding steels I've ever heard are BW. Mike Cookie Jones main Legrand was a BW and it sounded great. Another is Tom Killen, his push pull is a BW and has tone for days. In other words don't think that the BW will affect the sound in a negative way as it won't. |

Also some of the best sounding push pulls are wood neck. |

I thought the basket weave WAS some kind of mica finish. Guess I'm wrong on that assumption. Either way, a very interesting Emmons.
I'd still like to see it Skagged!

Mike,
On the contrary. That would be an AMAZING thing!
Mark: Please sell this guitar to Mike Scaggs and let him do his thing! This guitar deserves to be brought back to its former glory. Mike is one person who can do just that and do it with a lot of compassion, care, attention to detail, and excellence!
OK...sorry if I overstepped my bounds. Thanks.

Ha Don! thanks bud but I have ZERO interest in this guitar. It will be a heck of a project for someone as you don't see too many like her around. I have one in the hopper now and one waiting plus 4 amps to build so my dance card is full. _________________ I can explain it to you but I can't understand it for you

Come on Mike - you can't be working 24 hours a day surely? You must have some free time to work on the B/W? _________________ Show Pro D10 - amber (8+6), MSA D10 Legend XL Signature - redburst (9+6), Sho-Bud Pro 111 Custom (8+6), Emmons black Push-Pull D10 (8+5), Zum D10 (8x8), Hudson pedal resonator. I must say I love the look of this guitar - especially the gold necks. Would love to hear it. _________________ Mostly Pre-1970 guitars. |

|
|
Hi Mark,
Maybe a dumb question but here goes anyway....
If the Basketweave is formica why would anyone think it sounds different than any other formica Emmons with wood necks? I'm guessing the Basketweave is just a picture under the finish layer in the formica?
Thanks,

Hi Andy,
Hope all finds you well.
The Basketweave formica is kind of like an embossed mica with texture. My only thought is it may be ( and I am not sure) ever slightly thicker than standard mica?
I don't think the sonics on this guitar are different from any
push pull from the era. And well, no two guitars sound identical either. Alot depends on the guy holding the bar!!!!
Have a great weekend!!!
