Hey all. I'm just looking for some clarification on how to intentionally use the chromatic top strings to chime down from a 4 to a 1, or any other kind of change. So far I've kind of been able to chime up and down on one fret between the 1 and the 4, but I'd like to know the relationships better to be able to utilize the top end for more "awkward" changes. Can anyone give me a jumping off point?

Here's one...
Any song that starts with a Minor chord, let's say, Jolene...
It's in C# minor, so you don't even need a bar.
Just hold the A-pedal down, and play harmonics at the 12th fret on these strings in this order: 3-1-4-2-5
I like to play it backwards and forwards twice during this Intro.

[I hope I got that right]

That's a great tip, but I was thinking more in terms of walking up or down to a chord, or outlining something like a 4 to a 2m using 1&2, 3&4, 4&5. Let's say that move is happening in G. Naturally the bar is on the third fret. What's the way?

From a 4 to a 2m in G is C to Am. So, you could harmonize the lick that Pete posted starting at fret 8: 4+3 / 2+1 / 5A+4 / 5+2 / 6+5A. Unless we’re both missing your point, that is one way to connect your chimes. There are other ways to finish off that lick, but this way keeps it all on one fret, which makes the palm harmonics easier.
