About the Eminence Double T-12 designed by Travis Toy.
Has anyone replaced the speaker in the Nashville 112
with this speaker? If so, then what about a report.
Would certainly be lighter but what about the tone.
thanks,
Bill

I have one in my Nashville 112, I like the sound and there was no loss in volume!

Large improvement over the Peavey OEM Blue Marvel speaker tone-wise...and a bit lighter

Tone is in the ear of the beholder, but...nah, nevermind. My buddy put one in has 112 and it's just better. A very good match for that amp.

More accurately, I bet a blind listening poll would have 90% thinking it was a sweeter, better-balanced sounding speaker than the stock one.

My question is I've only seen this speaker listed as 8ohms...doesn't a nv112 take a 4ohm speaker? Mike Brown told me I would be cutting power putting an 8ohm in place of a 4ohm in my nv112. Does it come in a 4ohm model and I've overlooked it?MD

Hey Michael. It is an 8 ohm speaker. As you can see from others comments, they are having no issues whatsoever. The fear of putting an 8 ohm speaker in a 4 ohm amp is VERY overstated by lots of folks. On paper it might show a loss of power, but in reality, my speaker is a considerably more efficient design than a traditional magnet speaker, so you’ll suffer no loss in power/volume. I’ve not gotten a single negative message from anyone who has my speaker in a NV112. It’s been overwhelmingly positive.

Sensitivities:
Stock 12" Blue Marvel speaker (4Ω) = 96.5 db
Eminence Double-T 12 (8Ω)= 100.2 db

Travis, most solid state amplifiers specify a minimum load. (many say 4, or even 2 ohms). (You won't blow one up running it with no load!) The Nashville 112 has no aux speaker out, so I would assume they want no less than 4 ohm minimum.
(Leo's tube amps always had an aux speaker jack, as well as safeguards against no load, (high impedance), so he wasn't worried about dropping a DR to 4 ohms, or a Twin to 2!)
The comments about speaker efficiency, (no loss of power), should help folks decide whether to pull the trigger on using a TT speaker in their Nashville 112!

Fully realizing this is an extreme long shot, has anyone tried the TT-12 in a Polytone Mini-Brute II?

I had to look that one up. I have not received any messages from anyone using a TT with that particular amp. That being said, I’ve gotten messages from people all over the globe that have put them in a lot of amps that I’d never heard of. All I can say is this...my speaker is voiced VERY friendly for a modern steel tone. Any amp, especially an amp with a traditionally guitar voiced speaker, is gonna get the benefit of becoming considerably more steel friendly from an EQ perspective. Good luck!
