I notice that a few members use "Fred Kelly White picks."

When I ordered my Fred Kelly Speed Picks (originally for my lap steel) I didn't notice any white ones, and I ordered orange ones.

Is there a significant difference?

Jeff, I use their picks and love them. The Fred Kelly website offers size and gauge but said nothing about color. Maybe a dealer would know more.

Looking at the site under 'speed picks' , it lists yellow/light, orange/ med., and white/ heavy. Said the left handed ones weren't coded..hope this helps...

fwiw, The Orange ones with the regular blade (not the tri-blade) are my main Thumbpick these days.
Easy to find in stores.

The orange slick pick is great. I had issues with thumb picks catching the string next to it. These have a shorter wrap around band which solves that problem.

Speed picks and Slick picks can be different materials.
Speed picks are Delrin and are almost indestructible softer material.
Slick picks are Poly or Delrin your choice..
Poly is a harder material with brighter sound but doesn't last as long.
The Delrin picks have a softer tone.
I like the Poly Slick picks and finally bought a 24 pack of them as I could not always find them locally.

I've used them for years and really like them. I have Orange which are medium and White that are heavy.

Does anyone use, or have they tried, the finger picks? I use bare fingers now (I know, I know) but thinking these might work..

I volunteer Hal Braun as guinea pig!

I played bare fingered up til this past January, and I'm pleased with the difference. Picks give me more accuracy, which I always need. They're smaller, which made a big difference. I looked at those Fred Kelly finger picks, but I think I'm settling in to steel now.

I really like the poly Slick Picks; but, they will eventually weaken and break right where the pick bends to wrap around the thumb. A visual inspection will show little lines developing in that spot. That's the time to throw it away, because it's close to breaking time.
