I completed the kit build of the Allen Encore tube amp with Eminence Double-T 12 Travis Toy Signature Speaker. A full review will be posted over the next week. It sounds really great for steel and guitar. Here's the first tune from my home studio. Lead guitar, rhythm guitar and steel parts all played though the Encore mic'd with a Shure SM-57. The guitar distortion was all amp with the Volume and Raw controls cranked and the Master Volume set low while playing at bedroom levels.

Nice job, Greg, on both the building and the recording. You do superclean work.
What are you using for the organ simulator? Sounded dead one.

The song uses a mishmash of tools. Piano is EZKeys, drums are EZDrummer, organ is from BIAB RealBand. Bass is direct to console and rhythm guitar and all leads were recorded through the amp with a Shure SM-57 into a Zoom R24. All those tools are semi-useful. You really have to hunt and peck to find useful snippets to piece together with them. With RealBand on some styles you can get it to offer 7 variations of a style with a given chord sequence then pick and choose and cut and paste to get something useful.

Greg, how much does it weigh with the TT-12 speaker? Did you buy a kit without a speaker?

Tom had it shipped with the speaker.

The speaker weighs 7.1 pounds, the chassis weighs 20.0 pounds and the cabinet with reverb tank weighs 16.6 pounds. For comparison here are the relative weights of some popular amps:

Fender 68 Custom Deluxe Reverb 40.2 pounds
Fender Steel King with casters 64.4 pounds
Peavey Nashville 400 57.0 pounds
Allen Encore 43.7 pounds
