Lots of great steel playing on this! Who may the steel player be? My guess is Buddy Emmons.

Great steel, but I don't think it's Emmons, who was most likely in L.A. when this was done (1970). I can't find any information on the players, but if I had to guess I'd say a young Doug Jernigan. I've been wrong before (just ask my wife) so if anyone knows for sure I'd like to know.

Great find Joachim, listened to it in its entirety this morning. Everything music should be.

I now too think that Doug Jernigan played. Mr. Emmons was in LA. There's a record (double album) I had which featured Jernigan and Vassar and David Bromberg. Anyone remember what's it called?
Yes, this is a nice one!

Clements and Jernigan did a Hillbilly Jazz recording, a little later in the 70's.

There are some clements LP's on discogs that have Doug Jernigan playing steel on them. I bought one for a few bucks since I liked the video so much. Mid 70s stuff...

I think that was Doug. Vassar was a close friend and one of the nicest guys you'll ever meet. I miss him a lot.
