Long-time (50 year) guitarist but pedal steel newbie here. Just got an MSA Sidekick and wondering how critical the owners manual’s recommended string gauges are to getting the guitar to return to pitch after pedal changes? Thanks. ~ Tom

Thanks Paul. I notice that your recommended gauges are different than what the owners manal recommends. Is that based on your experience with a sidekick? I am having s little trouble getting the pedals and lever tuned, and wondered if the fact that my D’Addario Prosteel gauges differ a little from what the manual recommends is part of my problem.

If you go lighter than the recommended gauges, you may have a problem. Heavier is usually okay.

Been there, done that.
