There have been several posts recently discussing the Eddie Alkire system and his unique tuning.
He was a true innovator and that spirit seems to extend to his Volume Pedals.
Attached are two photos that profile his unique design.
All the other volume pedals I have seen are basically flat across the top and a players foot is at 90 degrees to the pedal.
Eddies pedal is slanted ( the casting actually goes from thick to thin ) on an angle.
I don’t know if the term “ergonomic†was used in the 1940â€s , but perhaps this was the reason for this unique ,slanted design.
This one needs a new pot , so I can’t say how it feels when put into action.

Funny, I just received my complete Alkire Eharp method thanks to one of the forum members. It is huge. Included was a lot of literature on Alkire products including the pedal.

| Reviving this thread since I just received a Ped-Trol with an absolutely MINT orgiginal Ephiphone Eharp. I took it over to my guitar tech to have it worked on, and he just called absolutely blown away by the pedal. Said it was really made to last. I'll post pictures as soon as he sends them to me. |

If you look at the posted advertising material, it says. Little hard to read so here it is "
POSTURE COMFORT - The correct professional position of holding the instrument as shown here is with the right knee pitched to the player's right. Only the Alkire Ped-Trol is wedge shaped on top especially to compensate for this right knee position. The ankle remains in normal line with the knee adding to the comfort of knee and ankle. " |

I wonder if one could approximate the angle by slipping something under the left feet of a modern volume pedal.
If that does add comfort, maybe add some washers under the heads of the screws of the left feet of the pedal. |

| The VP designed by Buddy Emmons to attach to the pedal bar was set up so it could be cocked either to the left or to the right. A brilliant, ingenious design that has stood the test of time (like most everything else he had his fingers in or on). |
