I put a Neo 15" in my 400 recently. It helped a lot, but it's still very heavy.
Does anyone make a lighter transformer replacement? Because that thing is heavy... |
I've often wondered the same thing. How much does the Peavey power transformer weigh? An equivalent toroidal would be ~12 lbs. The lightest replacement would be a switching supply, but it would need to deliver ~ +/- 52 volts @ 8 amps, plus +/- 15 volts at ~ 500mA. I have not been able to find a switching supply that would do that. _________________ Emmons & Peavey |

I put a neo in my NV 400, and I also put heavy duty casters on the bottom.
While the overall weight was down, the added height due to the casters as well as the removal of that weight from the cabinet made the amp top heavy.
With that beefy transformer and the overall weight of the amp chassis, all the weight was now up high. If you weren’t careful, it could be prone to tip in transport. Not the end of the world, just something to be aware of.
I’d still recommend the neo and big casters, just my 2 cents. |

John, who sells the gig bags? I have been using a folding camp chair bag but is worn out. Need something better.
Ron, there is an Academy Sports store near me.What bag did you find there that will work?
Thanks |

George if you search " Legrande gig bag deconstructed" in Forum I give specifics. It's a Kaces 49 key keyboard case available from Musicians Friend or B and H Photo. About $35. The leg bag id BullDog tactical shotgun case 35" from Cabelas. |

FWIW I used wheeled keyboard bags for my Fender 400's and 1000's for years. They didn't fit in normal cases once I added knee levers and wheeled bags were light, strong and very convenient. I simply added a sheet of Masonite inside the bottom to firm the whole thing up.
I bought them at a local Sam Ash. _________________ No chops, but great tone
