Terribly sad news.

Mike was a great steel player and always congenial for brief conversation.

I'm so sorry to hear of Mike's passing. Back in the day, I always enjoyed visiting with him when we did shows together or whenever I saw him. An absolutely great player and guy..!!

I remember in the early '80s, he told me of some bizarre tv commercial that was airing that showed a short clip of him, then me, but the music playing was some heavy distortion, rock guitar. Neither of us knew where they got the video... or why.

My deepest sympathies and prayers go out for Mike and his family. May God keep them all in his embrace.

Sincerely,
Chris "Tiny" Olson

Always enjoyed Cookie. He was a great player and a great person too. He played on my last Tri State show in 2007. Last saw him in 2014 when he was playing with Georgette Jones at a fair in central PA.

I never got to meet Mike in person but did correspond via email and phone calls when I was building his Encore guitar. He was very nice and was kind enough to send me some video of him using the guitar.
Rest in peace Mike.

Mike Jones was married to my mother Melissa Eldridge, my Grandfather drove for Barbara( the do rites) momma and dad divorced when I was young.. We lost touch.. He did so much for me and my brother and never had the chance to show our appreciation for all he did after they divorced.. I miss our home in Hendersonville TN. 208 Morris street.. I miss him and wish I could just say thank you dad for all you did for me..
