I suppose the editor at the Chronicle had no idea they were illustrating an article titled "Bobby Black — for decades, at the pinnacle of pedal steel" with a picture of Bobby playing non-pedal steel. Oh Well

(He's a master of both!) Very Happy

It seems like every picture I see of him recently is him only playing lap, does he still play pedal?

At 83, I imagine its just easier to tote the Lap around.

Good article in general.

He does play pedal steel sometimes but I think he mostly plays non pedal.

Here he is a couple of weeks ago!

SGF members will obviously recognize the disparity between the photos and the text, but for the average reader of a major metropolitan daily, it'd be surprising if one out of a hundred would notice anything amiss.

That aside, nice article. And thanks for sharing.

Right, he commented at SWSGA last month that he didn't enjoy toting the PSG to gigs anymore. Hence the 12 string lap. Very Happy

I lived in the SF Bay Area in 1953, and Bobby and his brother Larry played on a local TV show and I was dazzled by my first gimps of a hot guitar duo, playing life music.
