If I remember correctly, Bobby Black played on the studio version of "Meet me in Stockholm" – and very well indeed. Superb steel work on that album.

Just watched several of Doug's tube's because of this post. Enjoyed very much. Used to see him a lot in Austin. A true Texas Honky Tonk artist. Always a good band and always a good show. What a shame he is no longer with us. Question?? Do you know if Larry Cambell is a Son of Doug Cambell from OKC? Doug was a great steel player. This young man Larry played very well, steel and fiddle. J.R.

Larry Campbell lives in the New York area. I don't know if he was born and raised there, but he's been there for quite a while.

Looking him up on the wikipedia site, it looks like he was born in NY city in 1955.

Of course on keyboards is Augie Meyer, the drummer is Ernie Durawa, guitarist is Luis Ortega, and the sax man is Rocky Morales. All legendary San Antonio musicians. Since I know what these guys look like now, I'd say this video is from the 80's some time.

Yes, Larry Campbell is quite a talent. He’s a truly all-around musician—sings and plays steel, fiddle, guitar and probably others--all quite well. He toured with Bob Dylan and later Levon Helm years ago.

I saw Larry and his lovely and talented wife Teresa Williams just a couple of years ago opening for Emmylou Harris on a tour. Emmylou then had them come out and play several numbers with her band, and they all sounded wonderful together.

He and Teresa write some excellent original songs.

I was in a band a few years ago that did their “Surrender To Love”—a super song IMHO!

Olli, he has some weird tunings on "Rooftops". He's a master!
