just wondering if anyone has any steel-related tattoos. I've been considering the card symbols used by Sho-Bud:

and also the atom found on Emmons fretboards:

then I started toying with the idea of somehow combining the two. I doubt I'll go through with it, but thought I'd share:

maybe I'll just get some stickers made instead. Winking

The only meaningful steel related tattoo for me would be E9/C6 in some nice characters.

Not a steel tattoo but I got this. I took a picture of a resonator guitar my dad built to an artist and had this tattoo designed in his memory.

Scott,

I'll offer my .02 here.

I have 3 tattoos all from my Navy days back in the 70's.
I've been contemplating covering one of them with another tattoo of something musical. Or just getting a new tattoo.

I would do a generic steel guitar tattoo and not something referring to a specific brand. I know my love of specific guitars change almost as much as my ex's.

Thankfully I never got one referring to any of them.

Go generic.

hey Ollin!
i hear what you're saying but i think Sho-Bud and Emmons have transcended mere brand status in the steel guitar world. and both pay tribute to Buddy Emmons as well

the derby hat is a good tribute to E, without being too specific. same with the card suits a la Sho-Bud.

(speaking of Buddy... thanks again for turning me on to the Redneck Jazz Explosion all those years ago, when you were helping me find my first steel!)

here's another version of my earlier idea. cheers

Well you can't go wrong with the Emmons/Sho-Bud composite.

I actually think that's pretty generic. It will also be an easily recognize tribute by those that know and a conversation starter for those that don't.

Yep. I still remember driving out to Swannanoa that day. If I remember it was an S-10 BMI you acquired.

It looked a lot better when my arm was shaved and of course, me taking the picture doesn't help. The tat was done about 10 years ago.
It's a generic pic of my ZumSteel.

At my age,- the only marks on my body are GOD given. They're called age spots, birthmarks and bruises. Spent a few years in the Marine Corps but never ever thought about getting any tattoos.
