Doug, wow that’s beautiful, you set the bar high. I am just beginning here with a handed down 8 string three neck fender. Two necks too many for my current abilities. I was browsing for a tab for this tune when I found this site. Do you have tab for this arrangement? I am left inspired, thanks, Jay

Hi Jay, welcome to the steel guitar forum. I don’t have tab for this song but as I remember, I played most of it on C6 tuning, 6 strings only, the same 6 strings as lap steel C E G A C E (low to high). If you have that tuning and watch the video to see the frets I’m playing on you may be able to get most of the melody. The bridge section is played on B11 tuning.

Doug - lovely touch! That was most enjoyable.

The guitar is gorgeous! I can't say I'd enjoy carrying it anywhere but I do wish I had one like it.

Thanks Roger! I've always loved Acker Bilk's recording of this song and I thought the song would be well suited to the steel guitar. The 4-neck Fender is a work of art, for sure, but it's a behemoth! I sold it shortly after making the video. I felt that the time was right to sell most of my collectable guitars and amps and concentrate on the one or two instruments I play on gigs. Thanks for checking out the video!

There are a handful of melodies that stand up on their own and work even without the chords being stated underneath. 'Stranger on the Shore' is one, 'Greensleeves', 'Barbara Allen' and 'Shenandoah' have the same quality about them.

I once had a triple-neck Stringmaster and it was almost immovable, it was so heavy. I'm now down to two steels - the Emmons D-10 and the Zum Encore. My buying days are over.
