I know this is a long shot (this being a steel guitar forum and all) but can anyone here verify who the bass player is in the first clip? Whoa!

I think his middle name is Gene, but I could be wrong. Winking

Hey, work is work...
And, he's playing an Ampeg bass. Same model Rick Danko used with The Band.
Cool...

I believe that is The BIG E himself. Thanks for posting.

I saw that video the other day, and thought it looked like the Big E, but was not sure.... Thanks for confirming!

Is it just me or at 1:40 does he look like he's thinking "Oh, God - another chorus of "Yakety Axe"?" Not to take away from the young prodigy playing the tune.

Though its impossible to tell what's going through anyone's mind, I'm thinking that what's going through Buddy's mind is:

"Man, that Roger Miller gig out in L.A. is sounding better all the time."

When I was at Newman’s school in the 70’s, we went to the Opry and then to watch Paul Franklin’s killer band. On the way back to my truck (late!) I heard steel leaking out of one of the dives and slid in to find Curly on steel and Buddy on bass. One drunk passed out at the bar. I had my mind blown over and over that night.

Really now, Mark! I was just, uhh..."resting my head" for a while.
