We picked up this super cool, little, drip edge, Champ. It’s all original. At first plug in, it sounded pretty decent. Just kind of small. Of course, it is kinda of small and only 5 Watts.

The recommended voltage, as marked on the back of the amp, is 117 volts. Most modern outlet voltage is 120-125 volts. Our outlets are close to 125. This higher voltage can make these amps sound a little harsh. We used the Brown Box to reduce our wall voltage, to 117 volts, like the amp was designed for. Wow! Big difference in tone. Much sweeter!

Next, we wanted to get this little fella in a Mud Stand, but it was too small for our standard model. We decided to make a Mini Mud Stand sized just for the Champ. Wow again! The Mud Stand isolated it from the floor, tilted it up at a great angle and the rear foam supports acted almost as an extension of the cabinet. All of this gave this little amp a much bigger sound. This would make a great studio setup. These Mini Mud Stands are on our website now if anyone wants one. They will hold amps up to 14 inches tall, 22 inches wide and 11 inches deep. They are 39.00 and in stock. www.mudstand.com

The Tele is a Steve Dikkers sparkle guitar with the Brent Mason pickup setup. It has a blend knob to blend the middle pickup in with the bridge pickup. Also has a Forrest Lee Jr B- bender. Honey Tonk heaven. Sounds great plugged straight into the Champ.

Joe Walsh used a Champ, with no pedals, when recording Funk ‘49. Killer tone.

What is your experience with a Champ? Do you use pedals or straight in? Do you use one in the studio? Is anyone gigging with a Champ?

What was the smallest dimensions one could use a Regular Mud Stand for?

I have 2 amps:
Behringer GM 110---14.5"W x 15" H

Fender Blues Jr---18"W x 16" H

From your description I guess both of these amps are too big for your Mini-Mud Stand but I am afraid the Behringer might be too small for your regular Mud-Stand.

What is the weight limit for the Mini Mud-Stand?

Please advise.

Stephen,

An amp must be at least 17 inches wide to fit the Standard Mud Stand. So your Behringer will not work on the Standard model.

The Mini Mud Stand will hold amps up to 30 lbs. We recommend amps be at least 14 inches tall for the Mini Stand, but I think your 15” Behringer will work fine with the Mini.

You definitely will want the Standard model for your Blues Jr.

You can order either one or both at www.mudstand.com

If for any reason you are unhappy, you have 14 days to return them. Although, we never get any returned...

Thanks for your interest in our stands!

Kermit
