Hello all,
I noticed RR playing an Asher lap guitar, are these American made? What tuning typically is used for this type of blues rock stuff. What are the best lap steels made in America? Thanks!
Might have to bring something else to the gig..hee hee!

Asher's have models made in USA and import models for less $$. They are very nice guitars. As to your question of best in USA, Clinesmith has a lot of fans on this forum.

George........if Robert Randolph is indeed playing an Asher, my guess would be that it's made here in the USA at the Asher workshop and not an import.
As to tuning, my best guess would be an E-based tuning and depending on how many strings, he may have octave strings on the bottom like many of the sacred steel guys have.
Lots of good lap steel builders here in the States.
