I can tell you that the parts alone would far exceed 1000.00. Then add 20+ hours labor. They are not inexpensive to build but you get what you pay for generally.

I've built a few small projects before. Then there's the anticipation or "fear" when your finger is on the "on" switch for the first time? Kind of like de-arming a 250 pound ww2 bomb. Or, that feeling a terrorist gets before he detonates his belt.
Then the relief when the amp actually comes to life.
It's tedious, but looks like you did a great job. The tone is perfect!

Nice looking, well done guys. I couldn't help but notice the nice wooden jig you have holding the chassis in your pictures. Is that available somewhere or is it a home built jig? Looks like a good one. I've been itching to build one for years..... maybe one day.

Thanks Steven, My amp cradle is something I built myself as I got tired of stacking chassis on 2x4s. 3/4" baltic birch and some hardware. Pretty simple to make if you have some tools and very handy no doubt.

Weber sells those amp cradles but you can build your own.

Yes I like that one. There are plenty of designs out there on the web and most are pretty good. I used what I had in the shop and so far its working out nicely. If you work on many different types of amps like I do consider making her wide enough for Marshalls etc. The only weird one I still have to deal with is an AC30 chassis

I'm with Mike! The plans I had were metric, (which mean almost nothing to me), so the cradle turned out to barely fit the DR build I had next!
One other thing, don't paint the area where it pivots! |
