You don't have to explain this one to me, Don.
I wished the winters were as cold and snowy as they used to be, here where I live. Rain on Christmas and New Year's Eve is no fun |
Commiserating with you, Joachim. Where I live the snow line has moved up 1000 feet. It hasn’t been below 25 degrees for several years now, and we got almost no snow last year. A flood of rain though. It has become a typical pattern in the states for the back-easters to be getting pounded with snow and cold, while in the West we are NOT really enjoying this ridiculously mild weather. |

We set records for low temperatures here in Minnesota.
We're looking forward to some global warming.

Don't go too far south to get warm. It'll get real cold again.
I played in the very first Icestock, McMurdo, Antarctica, with it's founder, Dane Terry, and played from 1989 until 1997, with a bunch of fun lunatics.
Talk about trying to keep your instruments warm. No pedal steel down there, unfortunately. That will be a first: who's ready? Closest rock concert to the South Pole:

Not gonna go there. Literally for your first sentence, figuratively for the second. |

In temperatures like we've been having, you can toss water up in the air and it will come down frozen!!

Shoot, the other day it was so cold here the words froze coming out of out mouths. Had to bring them in and thaw them by the fire just to hear what it was my wife was yelling at me for! I wanted to see how the steel played in the cold so I took it out on the porch, but nothing happened. The next morning when the sun hit the porch, I heard all this music - took me a while to figure out it was the notes from the previous night finally thawing out! _________________ Many play better than I do. In my salad days we lived on an island on Lake Minnetonka. In the summertime, instead of taking our 14' yacht to the landing and the car, we frequently boated into Excelsior for shopping and stuff. One fine, sunny day there was a tourist from Texas, complete with boots and hat, who pulled me aside on the town pier and asked me if the big lake really froze over all the way across come wintertime. I told him, "sure, we set up houses for fishing and drive our snowmobiles, cars, and trucks out to reach them." "Bull s**t," he mumbled and walked away. To this day I sincerely doubt he believed me. |

Global Warming Erv, I have heard some say their is no such thing?? I don't know how you folks up North survive such cold. Zero and below for weeks on end, not just a few nights like it is here. Stay close to the stove. J.R. _________________ NOTHING..Sold it all. J.R. Rose |

Posted 29 Dec 2017 7:48 pm Coldest Gig!!!!
|
|
The coldest gig traveling to was -25F degrees back in the mid 90's. We had about a 20 MPH wind on top of that. We had about a 40 mile drive back home. We followed each other on the way home just incase someone broke down. We all went out to our cars on a couple brakes and started our cars just so they would start at 2:00am. |
