| I truly love the firm feel and slightly wider string spacing on the Buds I've owned. I currently own a Mullen and have had a Zum. Both had excellent modern knee and pedal mechanisms which were very desirable over the Bud's but string spacing was a bit bunched and had a kinda mushy loose feel in my right hand. Any recommendation on a 10 string with spacing and right hand feel of a Bud but with more modern precise mechanism's?? Thanks for any input! Best, Kent |

Kent, I felt exactly as you, but found I was able to get used to just about any change in string or even pedal spacing. I even had cramps in my left hand from pushing down on the bar. With time, all that went away. Now what's my excuse for sucking?

| Thanks Ron and I agree. I adapt and get comfortable, I've only been playing 2 years but woodshed the heck out of it, a lifelong musician and guitar designer. Just looking for what in my mind would be the best set up for me. I always play cleaner and faster on the Bud's and love the feeling of my knees and feet on the Mullen. Thanks |

Sho-Bud spacing, at fingers:3 1/16" (or maybe 3/32"?)
At roller nut: 2 5/8"
For comparison, my MSA Millennium is, at the fingers: 3 1/16"
at roller nut: 2 3/8"
Kline is the only guitar builder I know that uses a narrower spacing at the changer, but there could be others. I think the 3 1/16", give or take a smidge, is pretty standard. Whenever this has come up before, it almost always turns out to be just visual effects - the color of the background, etc, that make the spacing seem wider or narrower.
The Sho-Bud would be every so slightly wider than the MSA due to the 1/4" wider spacing at the roller nut, but the effect of this where one normally picks would be very minimal, I think.

I would say so. If you take 11/32" as a standard spacing then 9 x 11/32 = 3 3/32.
I had a go on a Kline once and it did seem narrower.

| Check out a Fulawka if you can find one- wider string spacing than the Emmons/zum/gfi/Fessenden/Rittenberry I've spent time with, positive and precise pedals and levers. |
