Since I purchased a vehicle with Sirius radio I have been able to listen to stuff I never heard before. Alvino Rey and the King Sisters came on this morning on my way to work. Some nice steel playing on this Seasonal tune.

Good stuff. Thanks for the link.

Pioneer Big Band leader with steel guitar and orchestra along with the King sisters. Maybe the first pedal steeler to do so, although pedal work isn't in evidence in this sample.

I was fortunate enough to see Alvino Rey play in St. Louis ISGC a time or two. It was a treat to see this innovative player, pioneer and hall of famer in person.

He played a Sierra and sat way up high on 3 or 4 stacked auditorium type chairs. He definitely had a style of his own. I've no idea about his tuning.

Jerry, I was at the show and wondered about that stack of chairs.
He also played a archtop guitar with amazing technique. He used the talking steel gadget on the show. Talented showmanship.
