Len: sounds like a good idea - any place you know of that offers something like a gig bag (that would hold the legs, etc?)

A thread on Hugh Briley cases:

Note: Hugh attaches hardware with rivets. Much stronger than wood screws, which will come loose.

I'm quite sure Wade's son took over the case business.
I love the Thomas cases.
Wade was such a nice guy and I'm sure his son is following in his footsteps. Very Happy

I have Hugh Briley's lovely split cases for my Emmons! It has saved my back for sure! Very nice work, fits the guitar perfectly.

Split cases are a definite plus for me, yeah us I old guys need as much help as we can get. Whoa!
Considering a padded gig bag for the legs, rods and pedal rack so I can sling it over my shoulder.

That's what I do, a Hatton case for the body and a keyboard soft case for pedal racks, legs etc. I am sure there are quite a few options for those bags out there but the one I have used is called Studio Slips.

Thanks for all the additional comments.

Erv: I spoke with Wade, and he is carrying on the business. Nice guy indeed.

Jay: is that a standard cover you use, or did you get a custom fit? Sounds intriguing....

Daniel,
I have two of them, both different sizes and they were both standard items that were available. It's been a while since I did this and I don't know how I decided on Studio Slips but I assume I must have done a little research at the time.

I want to thank everyone for their responses here.
I ended up getting Thomas split cases, and they have arrived.
Per my talks with Wade, the blocks are stiff foam, not wood. I had misunderstood about the foam inside, but Wade was very good in explaining.
I also like how the cases stack and then lock together, for easy wheeling.
Everything fits quite nicely, and the cases look great. Shaved nearly 20 lbs. off my full case.
Thanks, Wade!

49 key gig bags are the right size for the pedal rack and leg bag.Doesn't look quite as sharp as matching split cases, but does the job until you can upgrade.
Cool

A few guys have mentioned that the Red Dirt cases are heavy ... well my split case aren't .. the body case, with the D10 Zum Hybrid in it weighs a mere 26Kg's (57 lb) ... a fraction heavy for flying (23kg/50lb) on most airlines but I use these for everything else. Flying I still use my SKB trapcase.
